In 1926, the trade fair for health care, social welfare and physical exercise (GeSoLei) was held in the buildings of the Ehrenhof and beyond. The show attracted over 7.5 million visitors. Sport played a central role, with offerings ranging from gymnastics and athletics to water sports. Today, too, physical training holds a high place in the lives of many people. Around 12 million Germans are members of a fitness studio, which corresponds to roughly 15% of the population. The reasons why we do sport, or at least intend to, are varied: competition or team spirit, exertion or relaxation, self-optimisation or simply for fun.
GYM invites you to discover the present-day range and significance of sport on a course through the collection. Endurance and strength equipment, gear and exercises can be used actively. At 23 stations, the displayed art can be experienced in a new way. Besides free training, courses take place regularly: from barre, pilates and yoga to boxing and HIIT. On Thursday evenings there is also the opportunity to join a group workout with music. Get fit and stay fit, with art!
