How many sounds do you hear every day, even though you don't really listen to them?

We invite you to the Polish premiere of the artistic project Neukölln. Oliwa. Sonic Portrait by Bea Targosz and Marcin Dymiter, which uses field recordings collected in the Berlin district of Neukölln and Gdańsk's Oliwa. The previous iteration of the project took place at Errant Sound & Miss Read in Berlin.

The sound installation is a story about locality – about the immediate surroundings, which become the primary context for our experience of the world. It is from what is outside the window, on the street, in the park, or in the backyard, that we begin to understand reality. Careful listening can make a familiar place suddenly sound different.

Sound is more than just a background. It can tell us a lot about a space, its inhabitants, and the changes taking place within it. It speaks of architecture, movement, times of day and year, the presence of people, animals, and plants. It creates an audiosphere – the sonic environment in which we live.
