We invite you to the permanent exhibition „Kraków from the Beginning, Without End”, presenting works by painter Anastasiia Kurkova that depict Kraków

Anastasiia Kurkova (born 2000 in Mariupol), who also creates under the artistic pseudonym STIA, is a contemporary Ukrainian artist living and working in Kraków. She graduated in painting from the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. She has been painting since the age of thirteen and began exhibiting her work a year later. Her work has been presented at numerous solo and group exhibitions in various countries. She is a laureate of many national and international art competitions, winning, among others, the Grand Prix. Her works are held in private collections, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Poland and Ukraine. She also worked as an animator on the international production of the film „Chłopi” (2023) and is involved in initiatives supporting Polish-Ukrainian cultural dialogue.

She is the creator of Emochromism, an original artistic system in which colour serves both an emotional and a structural function. It is based on the conviction that colour shapes not only the way we see the world, but also the way we experience it. The idea of the presentation

The works presented are the artist's painterly view of Kraków, the city where she now lives and works. They do not document the city literally; rather, they record a personal experience of its architecture, light and atmosphere.

The paintings include both the most famous historical places and those connected with everyday life and the contemporary identity of Kraków. Here the city is not a motionless monument or a closed image of the past, but a living space in which history coexists with the present, and monumental architecture with daily life. The season, the weather and the light each time reveal its different face.

The works presented are an invitation to look at familiar places with greater attention and curiosity, and to notice their beauty, energy and meanings, which are easily overlooked in everyday life.

Opening hours: Exhibition accessible during the opening hours of the permanent exhibition at Krzysztofory Palace
