About the exhibition

· Show original

The presentation at Pałac Krzysztofory was initiated by Waldemar Andzelm, who made the works by Prof. Kuzna available.

Włodzimierz Kunz (1926–2002) was a painter, printmaker and educator associated with the Kraków artistic community. He was born on 25 July 1926 in Dąbrowa Tarnowska, and completed his art studies in Kraków in 1954. He remained connected with the Academy of Fine Arts for more than four decades, serving, among other roles, as its rector.

Kunz's output includes painting, graphic art and monumental works. He liked to experiment with form, combining colour, geometric order and collage. He sought inspiration in the world around him and during numerous travels, traces of which can be found in series devoted to landscapes and the culture of the Mediterranean basin. Real landscapes and architecture became, in his art, a starting point for compositions full of symbols, light and colour, leaving the viewer room for their own interpretations.

He took part in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad. His works are held in museum and private collections, including in Poland, Japan and the United States. He died on 6 June 2002 in Kraków, leaving a significant artistic and pedagogical legacy.

Entry with an exhibition ticket to the permanent exhibition “Kraków from the Beginning, Without End.”
