Exhibition: Ladislav Lábek as an Archaeologist

Ladislav Lábek was a historian, ethnographer, museologist, founder of the Národopisné muzeum Plzeňska (Ethnographic Museum of Pilsen Region), and above all, a prominent figure in the cultural life of the West Bohemian metropolis in the first half of the 20th century. Although the exhibition title refers to him as an archaeologist, he was not one in practice. Nevertheless, he managed to assemble an interesting collection of archaeological finds in the Národopisné muzeum's collection, which primarily provide us with valuable insights into the daily lives of the inhabitants of late medieval and early modern Pilsen, and at the same time are also evidence of the great architectural transformation of the city's historic core at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Among the most interesting exhibits are objects with the oldest depiction of the Pilsen city emblem and its figures, which were created very shortly after 1434 and were acquired during the reconstruction of house no. 274 in Solní Street in 1935–1936.
