À propos de l’exposition

Ladislav Lábek was a historian, ethnographer, museologist and founder of the Národopisné muzeum Plzeňska, and above all a prominent figure in the cultural life of the West Bohemian metropolis in the first half of the 20th century. Although the exhibition title labels him an archaeologist, in fact he was not one. Nevertheless, within the collection of the Národopisné muzeum he managed to assemble an interesting group of archaeological finds, which above all provide valuable insights into the everyday life of the inhabitants of late medieval and early modern Pilsen, and at the same time document the major building transformation of the historic town centre at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Among the most interesting exhibits are objects bearing the oldest depiction of the coat of arms of Pilsen and its figures, which were created shortly after 1434 and were acquired during the rebuilding of house no. 274 in Solní Street in 1935–1936.
