Residenzgalerie Salzburg

The Residenzgalerie Salzburg is a picture gallery founded in 1923 in the Salzburg Residenz, created to replace the archiepiscopal art collections lost in the early 19th century and closed again in 1938. Its holdings cover European painting of the 16th to 19th centuries, including Dutch, Flemish, Italian, French and Austrian works, and the collection is shown in rotating special exhibitions. Since 2014 the gallery has been part of the DomQuartier Salzburg, the museum circuit that links the state rooms of the Residenz, the Cathedral Museum and the collections of St Peter's Abbey around Domplatz.
