Kamienica otwarta: The Imagined Object.

By mgr Estera Gałuszka, dr Mariusz Sołtysik, dr Mariusz Front, Michał Hankus

Ends in 11 days

“The Imagined Object” is already the second exhibition to emerge from the collaboration between ASP im. Jana Matejki w Krakowie (Wydział Intermediów) and the Museum of Krakow (Kamienica Hipolitów) within the cycle “Kamienica otwarta”.

The starting point for the 2026 exhibition is material culture: preserved everyday objects from the collection held at Kamienica Hipolitów. They became a source of inspiration and creative interpretation for invited artists, students and graduates of Wydział Intermediów. The exhibition was preceded by several months of consultations and workshops on the meaning and understanding of the value of an everyday object, especially one from 100 years ago. The joint work of the two institutions responds to the need to raise awareness and sensitivity among students and visiting audiences towards the everyday object, its practical aspect and its aesthetic dimension. It also places the object in the context of memory, because objects evoke associations and can communicate social content, literally or in a more symbolic way.

Opening: 06.10.2026, 5 p.m., Kamienica Hipolitów Branch, Plac Mariacki 3
