Eva Yurková: Oasis

Gočár Gallery will present the first Czech solo exhibition of artist Eva, who comes from the Pardubice region, from the city of Svitavy. The exhibition in the Automatické mlýny silo consists of Yurková's graphic works, colorful collages depicting female bodies in situations of bathing and staying by the water, or ceramic reliefs broken down into individual fragments and assembled like a puzzle collected from a shattered image of the experience of everyday life in today's world.

The artist has prepared completely new works for the silo, which in the darkened space demonstrate the beauty of lines originally carved into a wooden matrix and then cast into a thin relief from silicone, a material sometimes also used for making swimwear. Yurková imprinted the motif of anonymized female bodies captured while staying and relaxing by the water not only into paper collages but also into woodcuts, which she brought to paper and wooden boards with force and rough carving. The exhibition works with themes of everyday aesthetics as well as wellness and active rest.
