Exhibition: The Tale of Gingerbread
By Michal Chmelenský
About the exhibition
· Show originalThe exhibition invites visitors into the world of the traditional gingerbread-making craft, which for centuries accompanied folk festivals, fairs and everyday life. The exhibition by Lukáš Kubec presents the history, iconography and craft techniques of gingerbread production. All of the exhibition's illustrative accompaniment was created by Nikola Logosová, whose distinctive hand combines expert content with a playfulness and poetry accessible to both children and adults. Part of the exhibition is her large-format illustration of a gingerbread workshop – the verštat – complemented by authentic tools, moulds and objects used in traditional gingerbread workshops. In 2025 the exhibition was first presented at the Bolfánek lookout tower in Chudenice, and at the Národopisné muzeum Plzeňska it will provide context for the forthcoming Advent educational programme for school and preschool groups, titled „Advent a Vánoce na Plzeňsku“.
