Underground – a world wrested from darkness
Underground is not only cellars, grottoes, bunkers, adits or caves. It is above all a mysterious world governed by entirely different rules, a kind of hidden Atlantis. Lands where unknown organisms live in absolute darkness. This name also covers the part of society's activity that is generally unknown and hidden from view on a daily basis, actions that are incomprehensible or even outright illegal.
At the exhibition Underground – a world wrested from darkness, presented in the Gmach Główny, we can explore in comfortable conditions the secrets governing this microcosm, unknown to most of us. We will find in it historical, geological, zoological, botanical and even technical threads. We will learn not only how caves formed, or why adits were dug in the Tatras, but also who studied them and how life adapted to these inhospitable conditions.
