City History (1271)

The southwest tower of the medieval city fortifications is dedicated to the history of Kitzbühel. On the first floor, medieval Kitzbühel is presented in the Romanesque tower room from the 13th century. The focus is on the charter of town elevation from June 6, 1271, and other documents that regulate the privileges and duties of the town and its citizens. The second floor of the city tower, with its ceiling made of grooved beams and boards, represents a late Gothic "Turmstüberl" (small tower room), probably established in the 16th century.
