It provides a home for animals and plants, supplies humans with important raw materials, protects against natural hazards, and is also a valuable place for recreation. The special exhibition invites visitors to discover this diverse natural and cultural space from different perspectives. It tells of the interplay between humans, animals, and plants and of the interactions that determine the delicate balance of the forest.

Historical sources, photographs, and objects provide insight into the history of forest use, forestry, and hunting, using Kitzbühel as an example. This reveals the diverse demands placed on the forest - as an economic area, a recreational area, a sanctuary for animals and plants, and as an important factor in dealing with the challenges of climate change.

A special focus is on hunting: its historical roots, its traditions, and its current role in wildlife management. Stories, customs, and myths also show hunting and the forest as a place of memories, narratives, and cultural significance. The exhibition illustrates how closely human history is linked to the forest - and raises the question of how this valuable habitat can be preserved and shaped in the future.
