Kitzbühel's Baroque Flourishing

The discovery of rich silver and copper deposits on Rerobichl, just a few kilometers north of Kitzbühel, ushered in a new era from the mid-16th century onwards. Mining, which began in the late Middle Ages, was carried out on a large scale and led to prosperity and cultural flourishing in the city and region of Kitzbühel. This is evident, among other things, in the townhouses and mining administration buildings that were built in Hinterstadt. They shape the city center to this day. Kitzbühel grew beyond its medieval borders during this period.
